NOJHL names its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that the Soo Eagles trio of forward Alex Povorozniouk; defenceman Gabriel Clark and forward Jacob Peterson have been named its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending December 21.

Alex Povorozniouk, (F) Soo Eagles – Pacing Sault Ste. Marie offensively, Povorozniouk supplied six points in helping his side sweep a two-game set against Blind River.

The 19-year-old McHenry, Illinois native began with his second five-point night of the season on a pair of tallies, including the game-winner, and three assists, then chipped in with an additional helper in the other triumph.

With 10 points in his past four contests, the alumnus of the Windy City Storm AAA organization in suburban Chicago, Povorozniouk is now averaging just over a point-per-game with the Eagles with 23 in 22 outings. His four deciding goals top the team and have him one off of a share for the league lead in that department.

Gabriel Clark, (D) Soo Eagles – Collecting a NOJHL-best four points among defencemen, last week, Clark dished out as many assists as part of the Eagles’ wins over the Beavers.

From Hampshire, Illinois, the 18-year-old veteran of 102 league contests has already established a single-season best point total with 16 from the back-end for the Soo.

Clark, who played in the Chicago Fury AAA system previously, will enter the New Year on a four-game point streak having set-up six tallies in that span.

Jacob Peterson, (F) Soo Eagles – From Brookings, S.D., Peterson, 19, notched four goals over the weekend as the Eagles capped off 2025 with back-to-back victories.

This included opening the scoring in both match-ups versus Blind River while later adding a shorthanded marker, a game-winning effort, and registering his first NOJHL hat trick.

Coming out of the Sioux Falls Power U18 AAA program in South Dakota, Peterson has etched his name on the game sheet seven times in his first five contests with the Michigan Soo.

The NOJHL’s Rogers 3 Stars of the Week will return in January of 2026.
