The following is the latest NOJHL team preseason preview and features the Timmins Rock.
Head Coach/GM – Paul Gagne
NOJHL: What are your thoughts on the team heading into the 2015-16 campaign?
PAUL GAGNE: “We are definitely looking forward to our season as we have a little over one-third of our team is coming back. So as for our program, philosophy and direction, I believe we’re ahead of last year at this point.”
NOJHL: Who are a couple of returning players you expect big things from?
PG: “We have Jordan Rendle, Bain Cunningham and Nicholas Hautenan just to name a few. Rendle will be our captain this season and will be depended on to provide offense up front. Cunningham will also play a big role on our first line contributing offensively. Hautenan meanwhile will be our anchor back on defence as he’s coming into his third season which will see him getting plenty of ice time.”
NOJHL: Are there any newcomers you’ve signed that you’ve been impressed with?
PG: One acquisition is forward Nicholas Siracuse (12g-23a-35pts), who we picked up from Powassan. We will be expecting him to be among our top six forwards. He will bring a great shot and leadership.”
NOJHL: What goals do you have heading into training camp, the preseason and the start of the regular season?
PG: “As for our objectives, we normally work on short-term goals and by doing so we definitely can reassess the situation and work on different details.”
