NOJHL to compete in Eastern Canada All-Star Jr. A Challenge

SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League has announced they will have a team competing in the newly-named Eastern Canada All-Star Jr. A Challenge as they take on rival leagues in all-star competition.

The tournament, formally called the Central Canada Cup Challenge, will be hosted by the Central Canada Hockey League, Nov. 16-18, 2015 at the Ed Lumley Arena in the Cornwall Civic Complex.

This year for the first time, all five Eastern Canadian Junior Hockey League member leagues will participate in the event.

Joining the NOJHL in Cornwall will be all-star squads from the CCHL, the Ontario Junior Hockey League, Quebec Junior Hockey League and the Maritime Hockey League, who will be making their inaugural appearance.

Last season Team NOJHL had their best-ever finish at the five-year tourney advancing all the way to the semifinals before falling to the eventual champion OJHL Oates.

“We at the NOJHL are thrilled that all five eastern leagues in the CJHL are participating in this prestigious event,” stated NOJHL Commissioner Robert Mazzuca.

“The Eastern Canada All-Star Jr. A Challenge has generated into a very high profile tournament that draws a multitude of scouts in all areas from major junior, CIS, to the NCAA and NHL,” said Mazzuca.

“The additional exposure the Eastern Jr. A Challenge will offer our players that are selected to the team is second to none and we’re excited to be part of it,” added the NOJHL commissioner.

The management team for Team NOJHL as well as the schedule for the Eastern Canada All-Star Jr. A Challenge will be announced at a later date.
