Pilon brothers pace T-Birds past Eagles
SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. – Drake Pilon had a pair of goals while his twin brother Darien doled out a pair of assists to help pace the Soo Thunderbirds past the Soo Eagles 4-0 Saturday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at Essar Centre.
Brendan Gordon also made 19 saves to post the shutout for the T-Birds in the triumph.
Drake Pilon was credited with the game-winner as he notched the lone marker in the opening period as he connected on a man advantage opportunity.
Caleb Boman put his club up by two; midway through the contest, while Pilon’s second goal of the game with 10 seconds left in the middle session made it 3-0.
Zach Senecal capped off the scoring in the third as the Thunderbirds wrapped a sweep of the weekend home-and-home with the Eagles.
Jack Hickey faced 40 shots in defeat for the Eagles.
