NOELVILLE – The Powassan Voodoos saw five different skaters register three points to help lead their side to a 7-5 triumph over the French River Rapids Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up Wednesday night at Noelville Arena.
It took the visiting Voodoos less than two minutes to open the night’s scoring as Gabinien Kioki collected his 21st tally of the season after finishing off a David Campbell.
Countering, Chad Lafortune tied it for French River at 11:48 with his fourth overall.
A late power play chance saw Powassan capitalize to regain the lead as Kioki added another to put the guests up by one after one.
Hitting the second stanza, the visiting Voodoos extended their lead at 2:31 with Tomas Yachmenev supplying his 22nd goal and 50th point on the campaign.
It was more Powassan five minutes after that as Yachmenev fed Joe Whittet for his 13th of 2018-19.
The Rapids did get one back before the session was complete with Cooper Bowman picking up his fourth at 16:19 to make it 4-2 after two.
In the third, French River kept coming and pulled to within one two and a half minutes in as Will Frustaglio collected his 20th goal on the year.
However, Whittet tallied once more for the Voodoos finishing off a power play chance a couple of shifts later.
Continuing to trade goals, the Rapids Cameron Conover and Powassan’s Ryan Mills exchanged markers later in the final session.
Reid Manning got one back during a late power play for the Rapids before Cade Herd put one into an empty net for the Voodoos to round out the scoring.
Clark Allair dished out three assists for the visitors.
Christian Cicigoi made 48 saves to record the win while Carson Murison faced 37 attempts in defeat.
