TIMMINS, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League-leading Powassan Voodoos stormed back from a four-goal deficit late in the second period then proceeded to score five times to pull out a 6-5 overtime victory over the Timmins Rock Sunday at McIntyre Arena.

Timmins came out quickly in this one as they grabbed the early lead 57 seconds in on Jordan Picard’s eighth goal of the season.

It was more Rock later in the session as C.J. Bradburn made it 2-0 midway through the frame before teammate Paul Spadafora extended the cushion at 12:09.

It was more Rock offensively in the middle stanza as they went up by four on a Jared Hester effort at 2:54.

A Powassan power play allowed them to get on the board nearly six minutes later thanks to an Aaron Dickson effort.

However the home side countered 20 seconds later as Bradburn picked up his second of the afternoon.

The Voodoos did pull back to within three before the frame was complete after Nicolas Case converted at 16:50 as he connected while his side was shorthanded.

Continuing to battle back, the visitors moved to within two with 13:39 remaining on Quntin Loon-Stewardson’s seventh then made it a 5-4 game two minutes later on a Tyson Gilmour man advantage effort.

Powassan then forced extra time with 5:03 left on Case Herd’s 14th.

With all the momentum, the Voodoos capped off their comeback half way through the first OT as Harrison Israels completed the rally with the game-winner.

Eric Allair had three assists to aid the Powassan cause while Loon-Stewardson added two helpers for a three-point outing.

Julian Galloway made 33 saves to pick-up the win while Timmins starter Eric Jackson made 31 stops in the OT defeat.
