Powassan Voodoos; Soo Thunderbirds well respected in CJHL rankings

SUDBURY, Ont. – Riding a 26-game unbeaten streak, which includes 25 victories and a double overtime draw, the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Powassan Voodoos remain one of the elite clubs in the entire 132-team Canadian Junior Hockey League.

The CJHL announced its initial Top 20 rankings of 2017 on Monday and the Voodoos were once again slotted No. 2 overall.

Meanwhile the two-time defending NOJHL champion Soo Thunderbirds also garnered national attention as they were tabbed 16th in the CJHL.

Powassan boasts a NOJHL-best 32-3-1-1 record and 66 points along with a .892 winning percentage.

As for the Thunderbirds, they continue to lead the NOJHL West Division and sit second overall in the league with 57 points and a 28-9-1-0 mark. They also sport a solid win percentage of .750.

Collège Français de Longueuil (LHJQ) remains as the No. 1 club in the CJHL to begin 2017 while the Brooks Bandits (AJHL), who have won eight straight, were ranked No. 3 overall.
