ESPANOLA, Ont. – The Timmins Rock picked up a pair of second period markers from Seth Reuben to help his side pull out a 5-3 decision over the Espanola Express in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Friday at the Regional Recreation Complex.
Espanola notched the lone tally of the opening 20 minutes when Matthew Reynolds secured his third goal of the season 11:14 into the match-up.
Reuben would tie it for Timmins eight minutes into the second stanza only to see Henry Laukkanen put the Express back on track with his sixth overall at 13:57.
Countering, the Rock chipped away to draw level on another by Reuben before Riley Robitaille put the visitors in front.
The back and forth affair saw Espanola knot the score at 3-3 just 46 seconds into the final frame on a Tristan Poissant effort.
However Evan Kentish-Stack was quick to give Timmins the lead once more as he picked up the eventual game-winner on the next shift as the Rock regained the lead for good.
The Rock’s A.J. Campbell then finished things off offensively at 12:43 to help secure the road triumph for Timmins.
Linden Spencer and Jordan Picard had two assists each for the Rock as did Express defenceman Leonidis Mihalochristas is his NOJHL debut.
Shots on net in the contest favoured Espanola by a 41-37 count with Tyler Masternak recording the win while Ryan Hale suffered the setback.
