COLLINGWOOD, Ont. –  The Timmins Rock were stymied twice offensively Tuesday against a pair of top Ontario Junior Hockey League clubs in Day 2 play at the Cottage Cup preseason tournament at Eddie Bush Arena.

Beginning the day against the Toronto Jr. Canadiens, Timmins dropped a 3-0 decision, then went on to be clipped 7-1 versus the Trenton Golden Hawks.

In the opener, Toronto’s Josh Branton was credited with the shutout, handling all 17 shots he faced in the victory.

Rock goalkeeper Patrick Boivin was kept busy in defeat, seeing 29 shots fired his way.

Game 2 Tuesday for Timmins saw Trenton break open a tie game in the final period to win in convincing fashion.

The Golden Hawks notched the lone goal in the opening session, before Nolan Ring drew the Rock level early in the second stanza, with help from Harry Clark and Felix Cadieux-Fredette.

However, the Golden Hawks soared from there, tacking on six unanswered markers, en route to the triumph.

Leading the Trenton attack was Corbin Roach, who scored once and dished out three assists.

They also held a 27-16 edge in shots.
