VIDEO / GALLERY: Rock drop Voodoos for 5th straight win

TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock saw Harry Clark tally twice, including notching the eventual game-winner, Friday as part of a 4-1 win over the Powassan Voodoos in front of 1,011 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League fans at McIntyre Arena.

Building on a come from behind overtime win in Hearst on Thursday, Kaden McArthur notched a second-straight marker for the Rock, midway through the opening frame in this one as he calmly waited while wide open in front before Liam Wells spun and worked his way out from the corner and sent a perfect cross-crease feed that was steered in at 10:04.

Timmins kept up the pressure and tacked on another late in the first off some crisp passing that saw Felix Cadieux-Fredette make a pass across to Clark, who whipped in his chance by Powassan goaltender Daniel Dirracolo.

An early man advantage into the middle session helped the hosts go up by three as Cadieux-Fredette used a quick give-and-go with Clark, who fired a shot into the top right-hand corner from up high in the slot.

In the third, the Rock added some insurance towards the home ice victory in the late going after a Voodoos defender fanned on a shot that allowed Jack Anderson to dart down the ice on a shorthanded breakaway and send one into an empty net.

Powassan did battle to the end and dashed Patrick Boivin’s shutout bid in the final moments as Darby McCarthy wheeled out from the end boards and into the slot where his attempt took a double deflection, including off teammate Ryan Patrick, and sailed into the top corner to cap off the night’s scoring.

The win for Timmins was their fifth in a row as they improved to 8-6-1-0 overall.

With the loss the Voodoos dipped to 9-4-0-1 on the campaign.
