GALLERY: Rock hold off Rapids to collect 9th consecutive victory

FRENCH RIVER – The Timmins Rock saw Kaeden McArthur and Kimani Eccleston both tally twice, then withstood a pushback by the French River Rapids, before eventually prevailing 4-3 Saturday to register their ninth Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League win in a row with a triumph at Noelville Arena.

In extending a point streak to nine, McArthur wired a shot from the left circle that flew past Rapids’ netminder Matis Bureau-Morel, 13 minutes into the matchup.

Adding another at 16:11, Eccleston wheeled out from the corner and picked the short side for his second of the season.

That saw French River make a goaltending change as Kieran Caughran entered in relief.

However Eccleston notched another as he took a drop pass from Nolan Masson and promptly whipped it in.

Up a skater again early in the middle frame, McArthur picked up his second of the evening as he finished off a feed from Matteo Paradiso.

Michael Morascyzk got one back for the Rapids during a man advantage at 6:24 as he finished off some nice puck movement from the left of Rock starter Ayden Mullen.

Special teams led to another for French River when Jeremy Clark jumped in from the point and lifted in a backhand while bodies battled in front.

Inching closer with a third goal in a row, the Rapids’ Armando Rojo-Bolton snagged a loose puck and stuffed it in with 5:16 remaining in regulation.

However, Timmins tightened up from there and did not allow another before time ran out to continue their winnings ways.
