TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock saw Thomas Beard tally twice to send the Timmins Rock on their way to a 6-2 decision over the Iroquois Falls Storm in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest Friday evening, much to the delight of the 1,059 fans on hand at McIntyre Arena.

Iroquois Falls did score first, as they clicked on a man advantage and saw Charlie Crump lift in a backhand from the top of the crease on Timmins’ starter Dryden Riley, off an Owen Cassidy point shot.

The Rock countered though late in the opening frame as they scored twice, moments apart, to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.

Henry McLellan tied it at 17:24 as he was left with a tap-in off a Jack Anderson chance.

They then saw Mason Svarich supply his 21st of the season, just 27 seconds later, after being sent in alone on Storm netminder Connor Hatfield and tucking his chance in.

Action in the middle session saw Timmins tack on another with Beard whipping one in from between the hash marks.

They then saw Harry Clark neatly tip-in a Sam Gallagher point shot late in the period to make it 4-1 after 40 minutes.

In the final frame, Hayden Rynard guided in a Lucas Lowe attempt at 2:51 to extend the lead.

Getting one back, Lucas Peever of Iroquois Falls spun in the slot and fired a shot through the legs of Riley to bring them within three.

However, Beard iced the win with a shorthanded effort midway through the final frame as he raced down the ice and deposited a backhand for his second of the evening, while rounding out the scoring.

The result helps the Rock move to 21-9-2-0 on the season, while with the loss the Storm sink to 8-25-0-1.
