Roschinsky, Jacobson lead Express past Canadians

CHELMSFORD, Ont. – The Espanola Express got a goal and two assists from Aaron Roschinsky along with a 35-save performance from netminder Mitchell Jacobson to help them edge the Rayside-Balfour Canadians 3-2 Saturday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Chelmsford Arena.

Roschinsky got the Express going 66 seconds into the contest as he notched his 19th marker of the season for the lone tally of the first period.

Tristan Simm tied it for the Canadians seven minutes into the middle session on his 20th of the campaign, but Espanola struck twice before the stanza was complete to go up 3-1 on efforts from MacKenzie Aiken and Riley Tilot, who supplied the eventual game-winner.

Rayside-Balfour came at the Express at a furious pace in the third firing 19 shots on Jacobson, but could only put one past the Espanola goalkeeper, which came with 4:23 remaining in regulation on another by Simm.

Jacobson shut the door the rest of the way to secure the road triumph.

Noah Serre assisted on both RBC markers.

Cameron Lamour faced 15 shots in defeat for the Canadians.
