TIMMINS, Ont. – Storming out to a four-goal first period lead, the Timmins Rock never looked back en route to an eventual 7-0 triumph over the Espanola Express in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up Saturday in front of 914 fans at McIntyre Arena.
All four skaters who connected in the session each notched their third tallies of the campaign with Tyler Gilberds starting the offensive outburst at 6:56.
Josh Dickson then put the host up by a pair a couple of shifts later.
Skating in his 100th game Timmins captain Derek Seguin added to the onslaught at 10:38 as he added his 49th NOJHL marker and 97th point.
Capping off the scoring barrage in the frame was Karter Renouf.
Seguin then hit the 50-goal plateau in his league tenure 6:17 into the middle frame to extend the Rock lead.
Continuing to connect, Timmins tacked on another midway through the second off the stick of Cameron Kosurko while Gilberds added another as the Rock extended their cushion.
The third period was scoreless with Rock goalkeeper Vance Meyer finishing with 18 saves overall to record his first NOJHL shutout.
Joel Rainville in the Espanola net faced 43 attempts in defeat.
