GALLERY: Tamburro solid in Storm shutout of Beavers

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Making a positive impression early in his tenure with the Iroquois Falls Storm, goaltender Michael Tamburro turned aside every shot he faced to post his first Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League shutout Sunday as he blanked the Blind River Beavers 4-0 at Jus Jordan Arena.

A surging Matheau Ouellette scored in a fourth straight game for Iroquois Falls as he moved in while shorthanded and muscled his way around a defender before driving to the net and slipping his chance past a downed Blind River goaltender, Justin Sullivan, 6:09 into the first period.

Taking a 2-0 lead into the initial intermission, the Storm saw Alexandre St. Pierre crank in a one-timer after being set-up by Ouellette.

In the middle frame, the clubs competed through a scoreless session as Iroquois Falls held their narrow cushion through 40 minutes.

Action in the third saw Iroquois Falls pick up some insurance at 7:29 when Rafek Dianov stuffed in a wrap around after darting out from behind the net.

Wrapping up the result in the late going, Owen Goodwin began a one-on-one into Beavers’ territory then stayed with the play as it progressed and saw him collect the rebound off a Thomas Hudon shot from the top of the right circle as he snagged the rebound and buried his fifth of the season.

This marked the first shutout for the Storm since back on November 3, 2024, when Maverick Fletcher blanked Blind River 3-0.

With the victory, Iroquois Falls improved to 10-18-1-2 overall, while moving into a tie for seventh spot in the NOJHL standings.

In defeat, the Beavers fell to 9-16-0-4.
