Thunderbirds 13th, Crunch 15th in initial CJHL rankings
SUDBURY – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced their initial Top 20 rankings Monday are a pair of Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League clubs cracked the listings.
The two-time defending NOJHL champion Soo Thunderbirds were tabbed 13th overall while the Cochrane Crunch were slotted 15th.
Both Sault Ste. Marie and Cochrane currently boast 12 points apiece in league standings, which presently paces the NOJHL.
The Thunderbirds have gone 6-1-0-0 to begin the 2016-17 campaign while the Crunch are 5-0-1-1.
The top ranked club in the CJHL is the defending Dudley-Hewitt Cup champion Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL).
Another OJHL side in the Wellington Dukes are No. 2 while the Terrebonne Cobras (QJHL), Yarmouth Jr. A Mariners (MHL) and Portage Terriers (MJHL) round out the top five.
