Timmins’ Pigeon named CJHL’s 3rd Star of the Month for November

TORONTO – The Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) announced Friday that goaltender Thomas Boucher of the Edmundston Blizzard (MHL); defenceman Romain Rodzinski of le Cobras de Terrebonne (LHJAAAQ) and forward Nicholas Pigeon of the Timmins Rock (NOJHL) have been named its 3 Stars of the Month for November.

1ST STAR: THOMAS BOUCHER, (G) EDMUNDSTON BLIZZARD (MHL) – Joining Edmundston early last month, the 19-year-old Lévis, Que., made an immediate impact with his new club by winning each of his eight starts in November for the Blizzard.

Along with the solid 8-0-0-0 record, Boucher boasted a 1.99 goals-against average, along with a save percentage of .934.

In all, he only allowed two, or fewer, pucks to get past him six times during the period, including posting his first Maritime Hockey League shutout back on Nov. Nov. 17, with a sharp 39-save road performance versus the Fredericton Red Wings.

To date, Boucher is now 9-0-0-0 in MHL play and tops all league goaltenders there in average and save mark at 1.88 and .935 respectively.

2ND STAR: ROMAIN RODZINSKI, (D) LE COBRAS DE TERRBONNE (LHJAAAQ) – Solid at both ends of the ice for the red-hot Cobras, Rodzinski’s efforts helped Terrebonne come away victorious in all seven games they played during the time frame.

Posting multi-point efforts in each of those contests, the 20-year-old blueliner, who was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, supplied six tallies and dished out 13 assists for a 19-point run.

Rodzinski also had a plus-12 rating for the month in those seven wins for his side while his contributions on the back-end aided in the Cobras allowing only 12 tallies against.

Currently pacing all LHJAAAQ defencemen in offensive production with 48 points (14G-34A) in 24 games, he also sits fourth overall, among all league skaters, in scoring and leads the way in plus-minus with an impressive plus-41 ratio, while helping Terrebonne win each of their past dozen outings.

3RD STAR: NICOLAS PIGEON, (F) TIMMINS ROCK (NOJHL) – In 10 games last month, where Timmins racked up record of 9-0-0-1, the Rock captain had points in each of them, registering 20 in total.

In all, the 20-year-old Aylmer, Que., product tallied five times and helped set-up 15 others for the NOJHL East Division-leaders.

Of note, seven of Pigeon’s contests in November were multi-point performances.

Presently riding a 14-game point streak, and having etched his name on the game sheet in 18 of his past 19 contests, Pigeon leads all NOJHL players in scoring with a career single-season best 51 points, on 10 goals and 41 assists.

Earning Honourable Mention for the CJHL’s 3 Stars of the Month for November were Nicholas Beaudoin, (F) Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL); Joseph Ianniello, (D) Navan Grads (CCHL); Lucas Brennan, (F) Selkirk Steelers (MJHL); Riley Patterson, (F) North York Rangers (OJHL); Jeremi Tremblay, (F) Flin Flon Bombers (SJHL) and Eric Vanska, (G) Kam River Fighting Walleye (SIJHL).
