Timmins’ Romaniuk named to Canada East WJAC roster

SUDBURY, Ont. – Hockey Canada announced its rosters for next month’s Junior A World Challenge in Trois-Rivières, Que., on Tuesday and Timmins Rock forward Brant Romaniuk was one of those named to compete with Canada East.

The 18-year-old Timmins product has had a stellar campaign for his hometown Rock, averaging two points-per-game with 42 on 20 tallies and 22 assists through 21 outings.

He currently leads his team in offensive production and sits sixth in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League scoring where he’s tied for second in goals and shares eighth in helpers.

Romaniuk has only been held pointless in three of his 21 contests so far this season and supplied 10 multi-point efforts, including nine of three, or higher.

Through his first 111 league games, the Rock assistant captain has amassed 142 points, having scored 62 times and helping set-up 80 others.

“We congratulate Brant on his well-deserved recognition of being selected to play for Canada East where he will represent the NOJHL, the Canadian Junior Hockey League, and our country on the international stage at the Junior A World Challenge,” said commissioner Robert Mazzuca.

“Be it those who have competed on-ice, or the ones who has taken part as coaches, in operations roles, or as members of the Canada East training and equipment staff, the NOJHL continues to provide top notch talent to participate as members of our league at an elite level,” added Mazzuca, who also serves as Chair of the Board for the CJHL.

The 2025 WJAC runs December 7-13 in Trois-Rivières where the two Canadian sides will take on teams from the United States and Sweden at the week-long event.
