GALLERY: Timmins stays hot by dumping Blind River for 15th win in a row

TIMMINS, Ont. – Backed by a multi-point night from Diego Da Silva, the surging Timmins Rock won for a 15th consecutive contest as they rolled over the Blind River Beavers 7-1 in a fisticuff-filled Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League meeting Friday at McIntyre Arena.

Striking twice in the back half of the first period, the Rock took 2-0 edge into the intermission.

Nolan Masson put Timmins on the board at 14:30 when he took a nice cross-ice feed from Thomas Beard and ripped it into the open side on Blind River goalkeeper Justin Sullivan.

With the assist, Beard now has points in the seven straight games.

Just over a minute later, Matthew Kim added to the lead as he wheeled into the Beavers’ zone where he cut around a defender then went in and neatly tucked in a backhand through the legs of Sullivan.

Extending their cushion in the second stanza, Diego Da Silva made it 3-0 at 5:34 as he dangled around in the Blind River end before cutting behind the net where he lifted in a highlight-reel tally with the so-called, ‘Michigan.’

The red-hot Rock kept it going with Matteo Paradiso pumping in a rebound off a Kim attempt during a power play.

A miscue by Timmins goalkeeper Frédéric Cousineau early in the third left Blind River’s Ryder Hill with an empty net tap-in for a shorthanded effort to put the visitors on the board in the opening minute.

Regrouping, a trio of tallies off the sticks of Maxfeld Shin; Braedyn Cyr and another from Da Silva helped the home side put it away and win convincingly.

The Rock moved to 21-5-0-1 in the triumph while the loss drops the Beavers to 9-14-0-4.
