BLIND RIVER, Ont. – A Ryan Armitage goal 2:40 into overtime was the decider as the rolling Timmins Rock racked up their 14th Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League win in a row Sunday afternoon with a slim 2-1 triumph over the Blind River Beavers at Blind River Community Centre.

It was the Beavers who began the scoring nearly five minutes into the proceedings as they controlled a face off and saw Ryder Hill knock in a backhand past Rock netminder Frédéric Cousineau off a Leighton Hurst point shot.

Pulling even before the first intermission, Timmins’ Thomas Beard fired a cross-ice pass across to defenceman Jack Quevillon who whipped a shot through traffic from the top of the right circle by Blind River starter Mason Janicki.

The assist for Beard sees him extend a point streak to six.

Moving to the middle stanza, both sides were held in check as the score remained 1-1 after 40 minutes.

In the third period, it remained close as another session went without a tally to send it to extra time.

In OT, the Rock pulled it out when captain Braedyn Cyr sent Armitage down the left wing where he moved into the Beavers’ zone and fired a shot that managed to get through Janicki for the game-winner.

With the victory, surging Timmins improves to 20-5-0-1 on the season while with a point in defeat, Blind River dips to 9-13-0-4.
