Timmins tops Iroquois Falls

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock got two goals in all three periods to skate to a 6-2 triumph over the Iroquois Falls Eskis Sunday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Jus Jordan Arena.

Devin Panzeca got the Rock rolling five minutes into the opening frame as he notched his eighth tally of the season.

Timmins then added another with 19 seconds left in the session when Ryan Theriault beat Eskis starter Josh Horner.

The power play allowed Iroquois Falls to get on the in the middle stanza as Kezmin Madden finished off the work of Dillan Bruce and Nathan Avery at 4:35 during a man advantage opportunity.

The visitors answered that with markers from Tyler Romain and Zachary Kercz four and half minutes apart to take a 4-1 lead after 40 minutes.

After the Eskis’ Marco Luciani buried his first of the season 8:28 of the third, Timmins put the game away late on markers by Tristan Salesse and Romain to round out the scoring.

Ryan Kerr doled out three assists for the Rock in the victory while Kercz, Salesse and Joe Olson supplied two helpers apiece.

Matthew Nixon made 36 saves to pick-up the win for Timmins while Horner faced 49 shots in defeat for Iroquois Falls.

With the result the Rock improved to 5-4-0-1 and the Eskis slipped to 3-7-0-0.
