Voodoos add 2 local coaches

POWASSAN — The Powassan Voodoos added a pair of experienced rep minor hockey coaches to their coaching staff.

The Voodoos will be bringing in Jamie Young and Geeno Robinson in as assistant coaches to help Scott Wray behind the bench with the expansion NOJHL franchise.

The two joined the team at the July 19th and 20th Free Agent Camp which took place at Pete Palangio arena.

Young and Robinson have familiarity, as the two have worked together for 7 years on various minor hockey teams.

Young has been a head coach the past 2 years with the Major Bantam AAA Trappers.

“I’ve had the good fortune to learn about developing players from guys like Mike Reise, John Couch and Scott Kile over the years. It’s nice to take that to the next level  and working with Scott Wray will be another great experience,” said Young.

“I think my experience in having worked with some of the local players through teams I’ve coached in the past and through development camps will help the team succeed. I’m really excited about the upcoming main camp and season to follow.”

Robinson believes the Voodoos team has a strong ownership group that is on the right path to success.

“I’m very impressed with both ownership, management and Scott in giving local boys an option to stay in the area, as they continue to strive towards their hockey dream,” said Robinson.

“It is an added bonus to continue to coach with Jamie for our 7th year together, and to have coached some of the boys signed by the Voodoos in Novice AA traveling team is pretty cool.”

Young and Robinson will be in Powassan on August 22 when the Voodoos open their main camp.
