Voodoos re-sign pair of defencemen

POWASSAN —The Powassan Voodoos re-signed a pair of key defenders that were part of their 2015 run to the NOJHL semi-finals last season.

Local product Bo Peltier and Sudbury Wolves prospect Nolan Smith have been re-signed, the club announced on Saturday.

Peltier recorded 2 goals along with 18 assists totalling 20 points in 48 regular season games in his first season of junior hockey.

At 6’5″ and 190 pounds, Smith is the tallest of the Voodoos defence corps. The Pickering product netted 3 goals along with 14 assists for 17 points in 33 regular season games in 2014-15.

The announcement follows the Voodoos re-signings last week of forward Jake Staples and defenceman Josh Ibbitson.

“Smith and Peltier had solid seasons on our blue line,” stated GM and VP of Hockey Operations Chris Dawson about the two 1997 birth year defenders.

“Both players showed significant development last year and with that season of junior experience they now have under their belt, Smith and Peltier will definitely help solidify our back end in 2015-16.”

The Voodoos will be holding their second and final prospects camp on July 17-19 at Pete Palangio Arena in North Bay.

Registration to take place at 5 p.m. on the 17th at Pete Palangio Arena.

Interested players (1999 to 1995 birth year) are asked to contact Voodoos GM Chris Dawson at GM@voodooshockey.com.
