Wildcats add strength down the middle

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. — The Elliot Lake Wildcats of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League have announced the signing of centre Jason Wilson for the upcoming 2014-15 season.

The Orleans, Ont., native split last season between the Ottawa Jr. Senators of the Central Canada Hockey League and the Metcalfe Jets of the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League.

The speedy forward also helped lead his team to the Telus Cup Midget AAA National Championship during the 2012-13 season.

Wilson has some familiarity with hockey in the northern parts of Ontario and looks forward to contributing to the Wildcats on and off the ice.

“I want to experience life in a small town and be a part of making history with a new Jr. A organization,” stated Wilson.

“I was a silver medalist in the 2013 Telus Cup, which was held in Sault Ste. Marie, and I enjoyed the vibe of hockey in Northern Ontario.”

“I can contribute as a two-way forward, bringing speed down the middle of the ice and competitiveness in all 3 zones. I will also bring strength to the penalty kill and maturity and leadership in the dressing room. I look forward to working with minor hockey teams in the community and getting to know the fans that support our team.”
