Wildcats rally late to edge Beavers

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – The Elliot Lake Wildcats rallied by tallying twice late in regulation to pull out a 4-3 come from behind win over the visiting Blind River Beavers Thursday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at Centennial Arena.

Each side would score once in the first frame as Brett Lannin putting Elliot Lake on the board early before Caleb Serre notched the equalizer for Blind River.

The Beavers’ Tyler Nott gave the guests the lead midway through the middle stanza, however Josh Bifolchi knotted the affair once more.

Moving on to the final frame, Brendan Young put Blind River back on top again 13:32 into the third.

Action in the back and forth affair saw the Wildcats knot the score with 2:09 remaining in regulation as Bifolchi notched his second of the night.

Elliot Lake then came back and picked up the game-winner 42 seconds later with Andrew Maltby burying the decider.

Connor Taylor had a solid night for the home side as he dished out three assists in the triumph.

Dominic Boily made 44 saves to record the win for the Wildcats while Garrett Boyonoski had 30 stops in a losing cause for Blind River.
