Wildcats roll over Beavers

BLIND RIVER – Trayvon Henry tallied twice and added an assist while Nate Speda scored twice as well to help lead the Elliot Lake Wildcats to an 8-1 victory over the Blind River Beavers Sunday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Community Centre.

Henry and Sepeda staked the visitors to an early lead with the only two markers of the opening 20 minutes.

Elliot Lake extended their cushion to 6-0 after two periods of play to take control of the contest.

Speda and Henry supplied efforts less than a minute apart to put the Wildcats up four with Matt Pollard adding to the lead moments later.

Adam Baxter notched his 10th of the season at 16:57 of the second as Elliot Lake continued to roll.

The final frame saw them tack on two more off the sticks Shane Woolsey and Cole Hepler sandwiched around one from Blind River’s Trent Linklater to round out the scoring.

Nine different Wildcats’ skaters finished with multiple-point contests on the afternoon.

Tristan Hanna made 21 saves to record the win in net for Elliot Lake.

Daniel Potter made 32 stops for the Beavers in suffering the defeat. Zach Mills turned aside 10 of 11 in just over 17 minutes of relief.
