Wildcats tame Beavers

BLIND RIVER – The Elliot Lake Wildcats used a two-goal third period to help them pull out a 4-1 victory over the Blind River Beavers Saturday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Community Centre.

Nathan Campbell helped the visitors open the scoring as he notched his 11th of the campaign at 8:59.

Shane Woolsey upped the Elliot Lake lead courtesy of a power play marker six and half minutes into the middle session.

The Beavers got back into it with 5:08 remaining in the second with a man advantage effort of their own as Nathan Hans picked up his third of the season for Blind River.

The Wildcats would eventually prevail tacking on two more in the latter stages of the contest thanks to Spencer MacLean and Trayvon Henry.

Cole Hepler picked up a pair of assists to chip in offensively for Elliot Lake.

Allan Menary made 22 saves to record the win for the Wildcats while Daniel Potter faced 33 shots in defeat for the Beavers.
