WJAC Selection Camp dates announced

CALGARY, Alta. — The Canadian Junior Hockey League, in partnership with Hockey Canada, announced today the dates and locations for Canada East and Canada West selection camps ahead of the 2014 World Junior A Challenge.

Canada East camp begins Saturday, Dec. 6 at Buckingham Arena, home arena of the OJHL’s Toronto Jr. Canadiens, in Toronto, Ont., with the arrival of 40 players.

Three intra-squad games will be held Dec. 7-99, before the final roster is selected.

Canada East has appeared in four of the eight gold medal games at the World Junior A Challenge, winning silver in 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2011, and bronze in 2008.

It finished fourth in 2009 and 2012, and was sixth in 2013.

Canada West camp will open Sunday, Dec. 7 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alta., with 60 players in attendance.

Intra-squad games are scheduled for Dec. 7-8.

Canada West won gold at the first two tournaments, in 2006 and 2007, before taking the top prize in 2011; it also earned silver in 2008, 2009 and 2012, and won bronze in 2013.

The 2014 World Junior A Challenge will be held Dec. 14-20 in Kindersley, Sask.
