COCHRANE, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Cochrane Crunch announced Friday, that goaltender Marcus Ouellet has committed to attend American International College on NCAA Division I scholarship and compete with the Yellow Jackets men’s hockey program.
The 18-year-old from Toronto has seen plenty of shots fired his way in this, his rookie season in the NOJHL.
Through his first 16 appearances, Ouellet has made 706 saves, which is the second-most in the league to date, in the 2022-23 campaign.
On average, the Crunch goaltender has faced over 48 shots-against, per-game, and has seen 50, or more, attempts put on target on nine occasions.
This includes a 60-save performance in a shootout victory over Espanola back at the NOJHL Showcase in October.
Despite seeing all that rubber, Ouellet still ranks fifth among rookie goalkeepers in save percentage at .913, and sits 11th overall in the NOJHL.
He is also spotless in the shootout so far this season, not having allowed a goal-against in each of the six attempts he has faced.
Located in Springfield, Mass., AIC plays out of the 10-school Atlantic Hockey Conference, where they currently sit in second place in the standings.
