Eskimos roll over Beavers

BLIND RIVER – The Abitibi Eskimos jumped out to a four-goal lead after one period and never looked back en route to an 8-1 decision over the Blind River Beavers Saturday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Community Centre.

After the Eskimos Ryan Tront opened the scoring three and a half minutes into the contest, newcomer Dante Juris tied things up for the Beavers as he picked up his first goal in a Blind River uniform at 6:24 in his second game with the club.

Seconds later however Abitibi went back in front for good thanks to Brenden Locke’s 25th tally of the campaign.

The visitors then broke in open adding three more markers in rapid succession off the sticks of Kezmin Madden, Tristan Salesse and yet another by Madden.

The Eskimos added to their cushion with two more goals in the middle session as Jake Holland found the back of the net twice in a 30-second span.

Abitibi then rounded out the scoring in the final frame as Tront picked up his second of the evening at 3:09.

Ryan Kerr, Patrick Picard, Brennan Roy and Dalton Bruce all had two assists apiece for the winners.

The Eskimos outshot the Beavers 50-36 on the night with Logan Ferrington picking up the victory and Zach Mills the loss.
