TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock saw Edan Etheridge collect his initial Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League hat trick to help them dump the Iroquois Falls Storm 7-1 Friday at McIntyre Arena.
The Rock kicked off the scoring seven and a half minutes into the contest when Etheridge was allowed to skate out while going around the net and fire a low shot that picked the bottom corner on Storm starter Keenan Connely.
Tacking on another at 11:16, Timmins’ Simon Toupin took a pass in the left circle that was provided Sutton Sheck and wired it under the blocker of Connely.
Iroquois Falls got one back a couple of shifts later thanks to Emmett Schipprack, who took a dish off the stick of Jason Cyr and whipped it upstairs off the glove of Rock starter Ayden Mullen and into the net.
The assist for Cyr gives him points in nine consecutive contests.
Countering quickly, Etheridge notched his second of the session moments later to put the hosts up by a pair.
Heading to the middle stanza, the Rock went up by three compliments of Ashton Beriana converting in close off a down-low feed put in front by Matteo Paradiso.
Not done there, Timmins made it 5-1 and chased Connely in favour of back-up Caleb Shuker after Ben Climenhaga moved in from the point and ripped in his third of the season.
Play tightened up from there as the hosts took their four-goal lead to the second intermission.
In the final frame, an early effort courtesy of Toupin helped put it out of reach as he finished off some nice cycle work in deep by Rock Oosterveld and Sheck at 2:21.
The third on the night for Etheridge saw him finish off a pass from Evan Katic along the end boards to round out the scoring.
With the win, Timmins improves to 9-4-0-1 and in defeat, Iroquois Falls dips to 5-6-1-0.
