Lemay & Sutton lift Sudbury past Blind River

SUDBURY – Brad Sutton and Joel Lemay of the Sudbury Nickel Barons had four points apiece to help lift their side to a 7-1 victory over the Blind River Beavers Wednesday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at McClelland Arena.

It was all Sudbury in the opening 20 minutes as they struck for three goals to take control of the contest.

Lemay fed Sutton to begin the offensive outburst for the Nickel Barons 4:13 into the contest followed Sutton doing likewise for Lemay eight minutes later.

The pair then combined to set-up Ryan Theriault for a power play tally at 17:17 to make it a 3-0 game heading to the middle stanza.

Sudbury their lead five and a half minutes into the second session as Dylan Callaghan notched his sixth of the season.

Blind River’s Sine Chadi’s third point in as many games since joining the Beavers got his club on the board as his shot beat Sudbury starter Kevin Labelle with a man advantage effort at 8:18.

The Nickel Barons answered back however with markers from Ned Simpson and August Jarecki before the period was complete to take a five-goal lead into the third.

Fransen assisted on all three of Sudbury’s tallies in the second while Jarecki chipped in a couple helpers.

Sudbury then added one more marker in the late going on Theriault’s second power play effort of the night.

Labelle finished with 22 saves to record the win for the Nickel Barons while Zach Mills faced 51 shots in defeat for Blind River.
