IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – A Henry McLellan goal with under two minutes remaining in regulation time helped the Timmins Rock withstand an Iroquois Falls Storm comeback bid and prevail 4-3 Friday in a tightly-contested Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at Jus Jordan Arena.

Timmins notched the lone tally, late in the first period, when defenceman Tenzin Nyman moved in from the right point and neatly picked the corner on Iroquois Falls netminder Maverick Fletcher for his first goal of the season.

Taking a 2-0 lead 5:38 into the second stanza, the Rock’s Lucas Lowe found the range as a Jack Kelly chip pass sent him in alone where he cut to his right and tucked a backhand past Fletcher.

After Ryan Boon stuffed in a wraparound at 10:59 to make it 3-0 Timmins, the Storm countered less than a minute later to get on the board.

On the tally, Remi Gendron hammered a short-side blast off a rebound that flew past the Rock’s Graham Gee.

Iroquois Falls then made it a one-goal game at 15:56 thanks to Isaiah Felix, who jumped in from the left point and whipped in his initial marker of the campaign.

Tying it early in the third, Ben Sherwin won a race down the ice for the puck and quickly lifted a backhand into the top corner catching Gee down and deep in his net.

Then in the late going, McLellan corralled a bouncing puck off a lengthy up-ice feed and darted down the left side before driving wide to his right and tucking in the game-winner past the outstretched pad of Fletcher.

The win moves Timmins to 13-7-0-0 in the standings and with the narrow setback, the Storm slipped to 8-14-0-0.
