NOJHL announces its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that goaltender Landon Miller and forward Wyatt Marlow of the Soo Thunderbirds, along with Timmins Rock netminder Patrick Boivin, have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending April 23.

LANDON MILLER, (G) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – Some solid work from between the pipes by the Sault Ste. Marie rookie netminder helped his side take a 2-1 series lead in the NOJHL final against Timmins.

Included in Miller’s efforts was a solid 1.33 goals-against and a crisp .959 save percentage, along with registering his first league postseason shutout.

The Thornhill, Ont., product now leads all goalkeepers in playoff victories with 10, while making the most saves as well, at 337.

WYATT MARLOW, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – Contributing to both of the Thunderbirds’ initial two triumphs in the league championship series, Marlow has certainly made his mark.

Hailing from Cranbrook, B.C., the crafty forward helped set-up the decider in the Soo’s initial win in the final, then supplied the eventual game-winner, to put the T-Birds up 2-1 in the best-of-seven match-up.

Playing at just under a point-per-game clip in the playoffs with 11 in a dozen outings, Marlow scored six times and assisted on five others.

PATRICK BOIVIN, (G) TIMMINS ROCK – Boivin helped Timmins get off to a solid start in the series and certainly could not be faulted in the two most recent contests that saw the regular season goal leaders only connect once.

The 20-year-old from Blind River did post his second NOJHL playoff shutout in the series opener and had an average just over two last week and had a respectable .919 save mark.

Boivin enters Game 5 against the Thunderbirds sitting tied for second in postseason wins in 2023 with five and is No. 2 overall in GAA at 2.13.
