NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Hudson Chitaroni (Greater Sudbury Cubs); goaltender Noah Metivier (Greater Sudbury Cubs) and forward Chase Thompson (Powassan Voodoos) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending April 21.

HUDSON CHITARONI, (F) GREATER SUDBURY CUBS: Scoring in each of the first three contests of the NOJHL final, Chitaroni’s efforts helped Greater Sudbury take a 2-1 lead, heading into Game 4 tonight.

The 16-year-old forward, who calls Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., home, also assisted on the game-winner in the Cubs initial victory of the series.

Chitaroni is currently tied for top spot in league rookie scoring, which also puts him in a share for third overall among all skaters, with 18 points. Meanwhile, his 10 tallies knot him for No. 1 in NOJHL playoff goals scored.

NOAH METIVIER, (G) GREATER SUDBURY CUBS: Not allowing a goal-against in his past 100 minutes of game action, Metivier’s efforts have helped Greater Sudbury gain the upper hand in the best-of-seven final against Powassan.

Among the contributions for the 20-year-old Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., product was two periods of play, as part of a shared shutout with teammate Noah Beaulne, in a Game 2 triumph, then following that up by turning aside all 48 shots he faced Sunday in stonewalling the Voodoos in Game 3.

So far in the playoffs, Metivier leads all NOJHL netminders in goals-against average (1.76); sits second in save percentage (.934) and has a league-best three shutouts, as well as a portion of a fourth.

CHASE THOMPSON, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS: Helping Powassan win the NOJHL East Division title, Thompson registered four points during the time frame.

This included a third-period assist in the Voodoos’ Game 7 road result at Timmins, along with a goal and a pair of helpers, featuring one on the series-opening win at Greater Sudbury.

The 19-year-old from North Bay has recorded personal bests in both the regular season (24G-40A-64PTS) and playoffs (4G-8A-12PTS) in 2023-24, in terms of goals, assists and points.
