SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that defenceman Spencer Horgan (Greater Sudbury Cubs), as well as forwards Jax Pereira (Powassan Voodoos) and Owen Murphy (Soo Thunderbirds), have been named its final 2025-26 regular season Rogers 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending March 15.
Spencer Horgan, (D) Greater Sudbury Cubs – Wrapping up the campaign with back-to-back four-point outings, the Bowmanville, Ont., product, who turns 21 on Tuesday, helped propel the first place Cubs to consecutive victories.
Horgan began a goal and three assists in a home-ice triumph versus the Soo Eagles Thursday, then followed that up by dishing out four helpers in a road win in Espanola Friday.
The alumnus of the Quinte Red Devils U18 AAA program, is the NOJHL’s all-time scoring leader among defencemen with 228 points. Horgan also topped all league blueliners in offensive production in 2025-26, with 72 points on 19 tallies and 53 assists.
Jax Pereira, (F) Powassan Voodoos – The Voodoos rookie contributed nicely in both of Powassan’s triumphs, in helping them secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming playoffs.
Pereira began by notching his first NOJHL hat trick, featuring the game-winner Friday versus Hearst, then set-up three more markers Saturday, one of which was on the deciding tally, in a triumph over Iroquois Falls.
The 16-year-old from Uxbridge, Ont., who played his minor hockey with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens of the GTHL, finished second in NOJHL rookie scoring, while averaging a league-high 1.58 points-per-game among first year skaters, accumulating 49 in total, in just 31 contests, including 19 goals.
Owen Murphy, (F) Soo Thunderbirds – A five-point weekend for the 18-year-old Murphy, who played previously in the Ohio Blue Jackets AAA system, aided the Thunderbirds in collecting victories over rivals, the Soo Eagles, and Blind River Beavers.
Hailing from Westerville, Ohio, the first-year forward scored once and aided on another in the win over the Eagles, then picked up his opening NOJHL hat trick as part of blanking the Beavers.
With 10 points in his past six contests, Murphy helped the T-Birds go 4-1-1-0 in that span. He also had 18 overall points in the 26 games he played since joining the club back in early November.
