SUDBURY, Ont. – The two-day Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Showcase begins today at Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex in Sudbury and on FLOHockey.tv.
Here’s some names to watch from each of the 12 competing teams:
BLIND RIVER BEAVERS
Mason Janicki, (G): Was one of the Rogers 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Oct. 5, going 2-0 with a 0.99 goals-against average while posting a solid .972 save percentage. … Sits fourth among league goaltenders in average at 2.52.
Jonah McIndoo, (F): Leads the Beavers in scoring with seven points in nine games, highlighted by a coast-to-coast game-winner in overtime in the club’s last contest.
Leighton Hurst, (D): Tops all defencemen with Blind River having picked up six points. … Hurst is tied for third in league scoring among D-men.
ESPANOLA PAPER KINGS
Joseph Coates, (F): Enters the Showcase on a 10-game point streak. … Leads the NOJHL in scoring with 23 points on seven tallies and a league-best 16 assists. … Was selected the league’s forward of the month for September.
Cameron Menard, (F): Has been excellent so far this season for the Paper Kings. … Menard has scored a goal in each of Espanola’s 10 contests, which matches the most in league play since 2023-24. Is third in NOJHL scoring with 20 points.
Owen Smith, (F): Has averaged over a point-per-game in his first year in the league with a dozen points each. … Smith’s numbers lead all rookies in offensive production on the campaign.
FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS
Tristan Kitchen, (F): The rookie forward leads the Rapids in scoring with seven points in as many outings on a trio of tallies and four helpers. … Is fourth in NOJHL rookie offensive numbers. … Has five power play points and a game-winning goal.
Armando Rojo-Bolton, (F): Is close to a point-per-game performer with six points in seven contests. … His three goals have all come on the power play, which leads the squad.
Keiran Caughran, (G): Made 52 saves in the Rapids’ OT triumph over the Soo Eagles Saturday to collect his first NOJHL victory. … Caughran has made forty-five, or more saves, in each of his four league starts.
GREATER SUDBURY CUBS
Daks Klinkhammer, (F): Is averaging two points-per-game for the Cubs with 14 in seven outings. … This includes four straight multi-point performances to sit sixth in overall scoring.
Nolan Newton: With eight goals in just four games played, Newton is tied for third in league markers. … Newton’s two hat tricks lead the NOJHL and his 2.50 point-per-game clip is also tops.
Mateo Beites, (G): Is second in the league in goals-against average at 1.56. … He is third in save percentage at .937. … Sits second among rookie netminders in GAA and SV% and has the lone shutout among first-year netminders.
HEARST LUMBERJACKS
Mathieu Comeau, (F): Sits seventh all-time in NOJHL history in games played with 219. The Hearst captain is coming off a career single-game-high six points in his last outing. … Is second in league scoring with 21 points and is riding a six-game point streak.
Ty McKay, (F): His 17 points puts him fourth in NOJHL scoring. … Is tied for the league-lead in game-winning goals with three. Has only been held pointless once in Hearst’s first nine contests.
Alexandre Boivin, (G): Boivin is 5-0-0-0 to start the year and leads the league in wins. … Was named the league’s goaltender of the month for September. … Dating back to last season has won each of his past 10 starts. … Boasts a career NOJHL record of 27-6-1-1.
IROQUOIS FALLS STORM
Benjamin Coupal, (F): Paces the Storm offensively with nine points in seven games. … Coupal’s seven goals lead all league rookies, and he is third in overall offensive numbers. … Was tabbed the NOJHL’s rookie of the month in September.
Lucas Willoughby. (F): Is riding a six-game point streak heading into the Showcase. … Is in second spot in team scoring with eight points on a trio of tallies and five helpers.
Aiden Beaven, (D): Sits tied for the NOJHL scoring lead among defencemen with seven points, all of which are assists. … Has helpers in all six games for the Storm.
KIRKLAND LAKE GOLD MINERS
Nathan Harper, (F): Leads the squad in scoring with six points. … Two of his four tallies have been game-winners, which ties him for third overall in the league. … Harper shares fifth in overall rookie scoring.
Glen McInnes, (G): The netminder is 3-1 to begin his year in Kirkland Lake. … He is fifth in the league in average (2.69) & seventh in save percentage (.926).
Parker Evans, (D): The first-year defenceman has contributed with five points in his first seven NOJHL games. … All of his points have been assists. … Is in the Top 10 in scoring among league blueliners.
POWASSAN VOODOOS
Ryan Saginaw, (F): Enters the NOJHL Showcase riding a seven-game point streak. … Has scored five times and assisted on five others in that span.
Cayden Kowal, (F): Leads the team in scoring with 13 points. … Has notched four goals and helped set-up nine others in his first seven games this season.
Braeden Begley, (D): The rookie rearguard has collected six points in as many games. … Is on a four-game point streak. … Begley is tied for top spot in points among rookie defencemen in the league.
SOO EAGLES
Anden Marceau, (F): He is second in the NOJHL in goals scored with nine, in just eight games. … Marceau also leads the Eagles in offensive production with 11 total points.
Lucas Caulfield, (F): Has seven points to his credit on a goal and seven assists. … The third year forward in a veteran of 100 NOJHL games and is just four points shy of 100 in his career.
Logan Stawizynski, (F): Has six points so far this season with a pair of markers and four helpers. … Stawizynski is tied for fifth in NOJHL rookie scoring.
SOO THUNDERBIRDS
Deven Jones-McDonald, (F): Tops the T-Birds in scoring. … He has tallied five times and set-up five others through seven games for 10 points. … Has etched his name on the game sheet in six of his seven contests to date and also has a game-winning goal to his credit.
Max DeCoff, (D): The league’s defenceman of the month for September has totalled a half-dozen points in six games, including notching three goals. … Is tied for third in both scoring among rookie rearguards as well as by all league D-men.
Nathan Maguire, (G): Is a solid 2-0-0-1 to start his NOJHL career. … He leads all goalkeepers in goals-against average (1.33). … Sits second in save percentage (.954).

Brant Romaiuk, (F): Leads the team and is tied for seventh in NOJHL scoring. … He has 13 points in seven games played, having scored five times and helping set-up eight others. … Romaniuk enters the Showcase on a six-game point streak. …

ST. ANDREW’S COLLEGE SAINTS
