VIDEO / GALLERY: Power play paces Rock past Storm

TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock picked up three power play goals, along with two Harry Clark tallies, and shutout goaltending from Dryden Riley to send them on their way to 6-0 victory over the Iroquois Falls Storm Sunday afternoon in Game 2 of their Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League East Division semifinal at McIntyre Arena.

With the result, the Rock now lead the best-of-seven set 2-0, heading into Game 4 Tuesday at Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls at 7:30 p.m., and on FLOHockey.tv.

Timmins opened the scoring midway through the first period, while on the power play, as Brant Romaniuk came in the back door and hammered in a cross-crease feed from Lucas Lowe.

The Rock then went up by a pair at 13:03 when 101-point man during the regular season, Clark, whipped in his third goal of the series as he darted out of his own zone in transition before eventually sizzling a wrister past Storm starter Connor Hatfield.

Moving to the middle frame, Clark added another for the home side while they were up a skater by making a quick right to left move in close and tucked in a low backhand on Hatfield.

A fourth in the contest came via a penalty shot, and after being obstructed on a break, Ryan Armitage came in and wired his attempt under the blocker of the Iroquois Falls goalkeeper.

Special teams helped the hosts strike once more just before the intermission when Jack Kelly neatly steered in a Lowe pass on a late man advantage.

Breaking out of their own end while skating four aside, Timmins tacked on another with Kaeden McArthur roofing a shot while darting down the right wing 8:46 into the third to round out the scoring.

Riley posted the shutout in his league playoff debut.
