GALLERY: Rock dominate Storm for 19th consecutive victory

TIMMINS, Ont. – The red-hot Timmins Rock continued their winning ways Sunday afternoon with a dominant 9-2 decision over the Iroquois Falls Storm for their 19th consecutive Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League victory, in a game held at McIntyre Arena.

The Rock kicked off the scoring nearly six minutes in when Diego Da Silva quickly whipped in a down-low feed from Nolan Masson past Storm starter Michael Tamburro for his 20th tally of the season.

Extending their early cushion a couple of shifts later, Timmins’ Maxx Hamelin notched his initial NOJHL marker by pumping in a second chance off a backhand pass from behind the next courtesy of Maxfeld Shin.

Blowing it open in the middle frame, the home side clicked six times to go up by eight after two.

They made it 3-0 during an extended power play as Braedyn Cyr dished one off to Kaeden McArthur at the top of the left circle where he wired a shot off the post and in.

With the assist, Cyr has now etched his name on the game sheet in eight straight match-ups.

The Rock kept it going with another extra-man effort when McArthur saucered a pass over to Da Silva, who cranked in a one-timer for his second of the contest.

Matteo Paradiso then made it a five-goal lead at even strength as he finished off an in-deep set-up courtesy of Evan Katic.

Adding to the onslaught, Thomas Beard provided a shorthanded marker to run a point streak to 11 by shovelling one in from the top of the crease off a draw won by Ryan Armitage, before Paradiso and Edan Etheridge completed the outburst late in the period.

Lucas Cardiff-Bilodeau entered in relief for Iroquois Falls in the third.

The visitors did get one by goalkeeper Ayden Mullen, while up a skater, as Rafek Dianov sent a crisp pass across to Lucas Willoughby, who promptly whipped it in to collect his fifth of the campaign at 5:44.

Another extra-man effort off the stick of Dianov then made it 8-2 as he slammed in a shot from the left side.

A second for McArthur, via the man advantage, saw him wire a short-side wrist shot upstairs to help cap-off the romp.

With the outcome, the Rock extended their winning streak, improving to 25-5-0-1 overall and in defeat, the Storm sink to 10-19-1-2.
