KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – The surging Timmins Rock picked up a pair of tallies from their captain Nicolas Pigeon, while goaltender Patrick Boivin was rarely tested, in a 6-0 triumph over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners Friday Friday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Friday at Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

Timmins began the night’s scoring 15:54 into the opening frame when defenceman Brandon Rossetti glided in the back door and took a crisp cross-ice feed from Justin Charette prior to lifting it over Kirkland Lake goaltender Braydon Garnhart.

Up 1-0 entering the middle stanza, the Rock only needed 34 seconds to extended their lead with Pigeon neatly redirecting a Kyle Trottier attempt from the left point.

The visitors then went up by three when Trottier took a play to the net and had a second opportunity to convert, which he put past a sprawled Garnhart.

Blasting it open in the final 10 minutes, Timmins tacked three more to win going away.

Brady Harroun made it 4-0 as he whipped in his NOJHL-leading 32nd goal of the season as he unleashed one from between the circles, during a power play, that flew past the blocker of Garnhart.

Continuing to press, Lucas Lowe extended the lead at 12:26 as he steered one into the open corner from the left of the crease.

Pigeon then finished off the one-sided triumph by scoring one from between his legs while having his back to the play.

The shutout for Boivin was his fifth of the season, and third against the Gold Miners, as he moves into a share of the overall league lead.

Timmins has now won seven straight contests while improving to 33-6-3-2 this season while cellar-dwelling Kirkland Lake fell to 5-35-1-0 overall.
