Thunderbirds out in the community

SAULT STE. MARIE — Doing their part in the community, the Soo Thunderbirds continue to give back to the City of Sault Ste. Marie.

Four members of the Thunderbirds visited Miss Vance’s Grade 1 class at Our Lady Of Lourdes Elementary School to take part in the Forest of Reading Program.

Sault Ste. Marie captain Anthony Miller along with teammates Connor Dea, Brandon Grandinetti and Nick Tassone, who was visiting his old school, to read the story, “The Highest Number In The World” to the class.

“Our organization wholeheartedly believes in giving back to people of Sault Ste. Marie,” said general manager Kevin Cain.

“It’s also a tremendous life-lesson to our players that aids in their development off the ice,” added Cain.

The Thunderbirds return to game action Saturday and Sunday as they head to Powassan for a two-game road swing vs. the Voodoos.
