Timmins wraps up Cottage Cup play with win and loss

COLLINGWOOD, Ont. – The Timmins Rock concluded play at the Cottage Cup Showcase in Collingwood Friday with a win and a loss.

In the opener, they were blanked 5-0 by the host Collingwood Blues (OJHL) before rebounding with a 1-0 shootout triumph over the Navan Grads (CCHL).

The Blues tallied twice in the opening session and tacked on three more in the final session with Spencer Young notching a pair for Collingwood.

Noah Pak posted the shutout and Jacob Brown suffered the setback.

GAME SUMMARY

Wrapping up the six-team event, that featured two, 20-minute period games, the Rock and Grads went scoreless in regulation.

Heading right to extra shots, Brady Harroun went to work for Timmins and snapped a quick attempt into the Navan net.

After Rock goaltender Patrick Boivin outwaited a Grads shooter, Harry Clark tacked on another for the NOJHL side with a deke to his left, before lifting the puck into the top corner.

Boivin then secured the victory with yet another stop to conclude the proceedings.
