Trio of Voodoos to called up to OHL
POWASSAN – A trio of Powassan Voodoos have been called up to the Ontario Hockey League as forwards Michael Silveri, Kyle Moore and David Sherman are expected to suit up for a pair of OHL clubs Friday.
Michael Silveri has been brought up by the Sudbury Wolves in preparation for their 7:30 p.m. home game tonight vs. the Kitchener Rangers at Sudbury Community Arena.
The 17-year-old Silveri has seen action in five games earlier this season with the Wolves, but has been held pointless.
He was a sixth round choice of Sudbury in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection.
Silveri has recorded 33 points in 39 outings with the Voodoos this season on a dozen goals and 21 assists.
Meanwhile David Sherman and Kyle Moore both earned a call-up by the North Bay Battalion as they head out for a road contest vs. the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Friday.
Sherman, a second round pick of North Bay, has already seen action in 29 games with the Battalion in 2014-15 scoring three times and adding as many assists.
As for Moore, the fifth round choice of the Battalion played in two games with The Troops earlier in the campaign.
Both players are averaging well over a point-per-game in the NOJHL with Powassan.
Having 21 tallies and 32 helpers to his credit, Moore sits second on the squad in offensive production with 53 points in 40 games while Sherman’s 16 points in 11 contests to date has seen him score eight times and set-up eight others.
The Voodoos return to NOJHL action Saturday as they welcome the Soo Thunderbirds to the Powassan Sportsplex in a 7:30 p.m. start.
They’ll also tangle with the Thunderbirds at home Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
