Voodoos sail past Vikings in NOJHL exhibition match-up Tuesday

NORTH BAY, Ont. – Riding three-point performances from both Jacob Grahn and Aidan Duchesne helped the Powassan Voodoos sail past the Elliot Lake Vikings 7-1 Tuesday night in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) exhibition encounter held at the recently opened North Bay Community & Recreation Centre.

Duchesne put the Voodoos in flight early in the contest before teammate Caleb Dawson clicked on the power play at 7:14 of the first period.

Kieran Pritchett got one back for Elliot Lake before the end of the frame, but it was all Powassan after that.

Grahn and Owen Head, via the man advantage, then found the back of the net in the middle stanza to make it 4-1 after 40 minutes.

Banging in three more tallies in the first half of the final frame put the game away for the Voodoos.

Dawson’s second of the night with his club up a skater extended their edge before Grahn and Ronan Grant each connected to seal the victory.

Matthew Lyon and Declan McNamara split the goaltending duties in the Voodoos’ win while Jacob Kierstein and Sebastien Borgeau both saw plenty of shots fired their way, in a losing cause, for the Vikings.
