Blind River blanks Iroquois Falls

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Blind River Beavers goaltender Samuel Carreiras-Pata handled every shot he faced to register his first Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League shutout as part of a 4-0 victory over the Iroquois Falls Storm Friday in an encounter at Jus Jordan Arena.

Neither side would convert offensively in the opening 20 minutes as the clubs reached the first intermission still in search of the night’s initial tally.

In the second stanza, the Beavers broke the stalemate late in the session when they forced a turnover that led to Camden Cowan moving to the slot where he used a Storm defender as a screen and snapped a shot past netminder Keenan Connely.

Adding to their cushion in the final frame, Blind River tacked on three more to help secure the decision.

After Alex Proulx converted from the door-step at 6:01, Jake Bond banged in a power player effort nearly five minutes later as he pumped in a blast from the left circle after being teed up by Caleb Walker.

The Beavers then sealed the victory in the back half of the session thanks to Ilian Danilov, who finished off an aggressive forecheck, to round out the scoring.
