Blind River earns 7th straight victory with triumph over Elliot Lake

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – Rolling right along, the Blind River Beavers got a pair of tallies from both Yianni Liarakos and Mark Bastianello to help them pick up their seventh straight Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League win on Friday evening as they dropped the Elliot Lake Wildcats 5-2 at Centennial Arena.

Each side would score once in the opening 20 minutes with Jacob Kelly connecting for Elliot Lake on the power play and Zak Lambrecht at even strength for Blind River.

Action in the second period saw the Beavers strike three times to go up 4-1 on a pair of efforts from Bastianello sandwiched around one by Liarakos with the final two coming with a man advantage.

Damian Figueria got one back for the Wildcats at 12:30 of the third during a power play, but Liarakos iced it with an empty netter late to round out the scoring.

Dylan McMahon also had a big night for Blind River as he dished out three assists to extend a point streak to five.

Also seeing point streaks continue were Liarakos as he has etched him name on the score sheet in 10 straight while Lambrecht has a six-gamer intact.

Myles Hektor made 27 saves to earn the decision for the Beavers while Matt Kostiw saw 33 shots in a losing cause for Elliot Lake.
