BLIND RIVER, Ont. – The Blind River Beavers picked up multi-point days from seven different skaters Sunday afternoon to help them skate past the Espanola Express 7-3 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at the Blind River Community Centre.
First period play saw the Beavers storm out to an early 3-0 lead on goals from Sam Harris, Ethan Graham and Nathan Engel.
However, the Express got back on track late in the frame by scoring twice on markers from Matthew Reynolds and Brett McInall, with the latter adding a tally for a fourth straight outing to bring the visitors to within one.
Blind River regrouped though and tacked on two more in the middle stanza to go up 5-2 as Ryan Peck at even strength and Ryan Mulligan, on the power play, both found the back of the net.
Espanola did manage to get one back 12 and a half minutes into the second thanks to Mitchell Lee’s fifth of the season.
Moving on to the third, first-year Beavers’ defenceman Brody White collected his initial league tally with 8:14 to go making it 6-3.
Blind River’s Riley Nadeau then rounded out the day’s scoring by collecting his NOJHL-leading 19th of the season to cap off the victory.
Five different players dished out two assists each for the Beavers.
Garret Boynoski made 44 stops to record the win while Andrew Rocha faced 62 shots in defeat for the Express.
