Dicks stops 40 as Rock blank Lumberjacks

HEARST, Ont. – Timmins Rock netminder Nicholas Dicks turned in a stellar 40-save performance to backstop his club to a 5-0 triumph over the Hearst Lumberjacks Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League exhibition action at Claude Larose Arena.

A pair of late first period goals gave the Rock the only offense they would require on this night beginning with Maxime Charbonneau’s eventual game-winner at 17:37 followed by a Riley Brosseau effort with 17 seconds left in the frame.

Timmins tacked on three more in the middle stanza to take control and go up by five after 40 minutes.

Mahingan Deconti started it off in the sequence of the frame and he then added another as he struck shorthanded at 14:08.

Linden Spencer came right back on the next shift to round out the night’s scoring.

Dicks did the rest in posting the shutout.

Connor Mullins contributed two assists to aid the Rock offensively.

Hearst goaltender Nic Tallarico faced 27 shots in defeat.
