BISMARCK, N.D. – The University of Mary men’s hockey program had announced that Soo Eagles goaltender Marino Ramirez has committed to the school, which competes out of the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s Division I Midwest College Hockey Conference.
Hailing from Chicago, Ill., the 20-year-old Ramirez made 21 NOJHL appearances with the Eagles this season, going 11-8-1-0 overall.
He finished in the Top 15 among league goalkeepers in both average and save percentage.
Among his starts, six of them featured Ramirez making 30, or more, saves, including a season-high 49 in a road victory at Powassan back in early November.
“We are extremely pleased to have Marino commit to our program,” stated senior associate director of athletics and head hockey coach Dan Huntley.
“His background in junior hockey will help him be very successful here at the University of Mary,” added Huntley.
“Our mission and athletics strategic plan drew Marino to us, and our success helped secure him to be a Marauder. We have a history of great goaltending here and expect that Marino will continue to add to that tradition.”
Based in Bismarck, North Dakota, the University of Mary Marauders completed their initial campaign in moving up to compete at the D-I level in the ACHA, going 26-14-0-1 overall.
