SAULT STE. MARIE, MI – Jack Paweski and Dylan Szabo scored twice to lead the Soo Eagles to a convincing 11-1 win over the visiting Elliot Lake Vikings at the Pullar Stadium on Saturday night.
Paweski opened the scoring for the Eagles as he put home his 16th just before the three-minute mark of the opening period.
Later in the first, the Eagles power play went to work as Gabriel Fisher scored his 6th at 14:39 to make it 2-0 for the home side.
Just over two minutes later Paweski scored his second of the period at 17:00 to make it 3-0 Eagles after the first.
Dylan Szabo added to the lead at 6:25 of the second as he scored his 6th which made it 4-0.
Midway through the second, Zach Sweitzer got his 14th which made it 5-0 at 10:17.
Anthony Bertrand got the Vikings on the scoresheet with his 4th at 12:30 which made it 5-1.
But less than two minutes after that, the Eagles got it back when Tyler Fortson potted his 13th at 14:11 which made it 6-1.
Less than a minute after that Brady Balagna scored his 2nd to give the Eagles a 7-1 lead after two periods of play.
The Eagles added to the lead in the third period scoring four more times on goals by Nolan Hendry, Szabo, Cooper Fredericks and Lane Janssen for the 11-1 final.
The win moves the Eagles to 29-16-1-2 while the Vikings drop to 5-35-1-4.
